WOMENS HOCKEY Webb helps fire Brands into last 16

Freescoring former St Austell and Exe forward Linda Webb scored five goals for Firebrands as they beat Essex visitors Pheonix 11-0 to reach the last 16 of the Investec Women's Cup.

The Investec Women's Conference West side will be joined in next month's third round by fellow Bristolians, Clifton Ladies, who won 3-2 at Maidenhead thanks to goals by Izzy Palmer, Liz Sinton and Dutch ace Els Mansell.


MENS HOCKEY Alex makes hay with winning hat-trick

Experienced Hay, 32, fired Tom Cole's all blacks ahead after 12 minutes then made it 2-0 at half time following a 33rd minute penalty corner.


MENS HOCKEY Howson fires Cardiff & UWIC top

Jimmy Devney’s Cardiff side beat visitors Fareham 2-1 thanks to goals from Mark Whatling (5pc) and Richard Howson (67).


WOMENS HOCKEY Thomas and Owsley hit hat-tricks

Thomas topped the Women’s Conference West scoring charts last term with 18 goals.


MENS HOCKEY Davenport double seals Avon derby

mens hockey league logoTim Davenport’s double fired Team Bath Buccaneers to the top of Conference West while Cardiff & UWIC joined them on nine points following their derby win over Whitchurch.

Last season's Conference champions Buccs beat Bristol’s Firebrands 4-2 in the Avon derby at Bath after trailing twice, to goals from Ben Trembath (15) and Rollo Lewis (28).


WOMENS HOCKEY Clifton edge past Gloucester in cup

Investec womens hockey league logoPremier Division Clifton are through to the Investec Women’s Cup second round following yesterday’s 2-1 home win over unbeaten Conference West side Gloucester City.

Emily Atkinson and Joie Leigh scored for Clifton, who now visit Maidenhead in the next round.
