Team Bath Tennis players Toby Samuel and Alicia Barnett have gained more invaluable Grand Slam experience after competing at Wimbledon 2023.

It was a first-ever Grand Slam for Samuel, who enjoyed a dream senior debut on the world-famous grass courts as he and men’s doubles partner Connor Thompson beat Pedro Cachin (Argentina) and Yannick Hanfmann (Germany) 7-5 6-3 on Thursday.

TENNIS Wimbledon test for Barnett and Nicholls

Lissey Barnett Wimbledon 2023Bath Tennis ace Alicia Barnett and Norfolk's Olivia Nicholls have been drawn against Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova and Liudmila Samsonova in their opening women’s doubles match at Wimbledon today (Friday).

It is a challenging draw for the Brits against the number nine seeds for the tournament, with Kudermetova having reached the final with Elena Vesnina on her last appearance at the All England Club in 2021.

Team Bath Tennis player Alicia Barnett and partner Olivia Nicholls reached their first WTA Tour women’s doubles final at their first attempt during a fantastic week at the Lyon Open in France.

The duo continued the fine form that has seen them win a host of titles on the ITF circuit as they beat number three seeds Irina Bara and Ekaterine Gorgodze 6-3 6-4 in the first round before easing to a 6-0 6-4 victory over Germany’s Anna-Lena Friedsam and Nicola Geuer.

TEAM BATH TENNIS ace helps GB reach cup semi-final

Team Bath Tennis ace Alicia Barnett says helping Great Britain reach their first Billie Jean King Cup semi-final in more than 40 years was an “incredible experience”.

Barnett, coached by Ian MacDonald at the University of Bath, and doubles partner Olivia Nicholls were instrumental as GB progressed through the group stages, winning both of their matches in straight sets to the delight of 4,000-strong crowds at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena.
