Cornwall launched their Minor Counties Championship season with an innings victory over Oxfordshire at Truro.After the first day was lost to rain but Cornwall made impressive progress to wrap up victory inside five sessions.

Somerset all-rounder Peter Trego and batsman Max Curtis broke Devon’s longest-standing partnership record Wales at Pontarddulais Cricket Club.The pair added 244 for the third wicket which surpassed the 200 that Hargrave Carroll and Frederick Beech put on for that wicket against Berkshire at Exeter in 1914.

Berkshire and Lincolnshire made early statements of intent by completing emphatic two-day victories in the opening round of this season’s Minor Counties Championship.The pair have contested the last three finals of the three-day competition and suggested that they will again be the teams to beat as Lincolnshire trounced Cumberland by ten wickets at Sleaford in the Eastern Division and defending champions Berkshire defeated Herefordshire by an innings and seven runs at Colwall in the Western Division.

New Yeovil Town manager Darren Sarll has made his first signing of the summer by securing the services of Somerset-born Stevenage defender Luke Wilkinson subject to clearance.Wilkinson, 28 and originally from Wells, arrives at Huish Park on a free transfer after making 118 appearances for Stevenage during a three-year spell in League Two.
