Exeter Chiefs Rugby logoExeter Chiefs concluded their Aviva Premiership pre-season warm-up with a 15-6 away win over Glasgow Warriors at Millbrae last night.

Second row forward James Hanks scored Chiefs’ final pre-season try to seal victory after fly-half Duncan Weir’s penalty put the Scottish side 3-0 ahead at half time.

Hooker Chris Whitehead responded with an early second half try for Exeter, who slipped 6-5 behind as Weir slotted over 56th minute penalty.

Hanks – on as a 62nd minute replacement for Ali Muldowney - put Chiefs 10-6 ahead, Gareth Steenson added the Exeter extras with a conversion and late penalty.

Chiefs kick off the new top flight season at home to Sale Sharks next Saturday, September 1 (Sandy Park 1500).

• National 2 South side Dings Crusaders concluded their pre-season warm-up with a 14-5 home win over National 3 South West outfit Old Redcliffians last night.

It was the first fixture – albeit a friendly – between the two Bristol clubs for 12 seasons, according to Old Reds sources.

• Talking of Reds, Bath’s Oldfield Old Boys host Welsh side Ystrad Rhondda RFC in their final pre-season friendly tomorrow (Shaft Road 1430).
