SW HOCKEY Top of table Exeter derby today

Weather-permitting there could be some super Sunday regional hockey today.

Topping the Davis Wood Hockey fixtures list is the Premiership clash between promotion favourites Isca and sixth placed University of Exeter B at the University of Exeter Sports Park (1230).

It is the second derby in a day for Isca as they won 5-2 at Exeter & Culm Vale Hornets yesterday.

Goals for Jordan Hussell 2, Tom Whitworth, Jon Wright and man of the match Sam Lynch sent Simon Tremlett's team back to the top of the league.

University B's match at Taunton Vale was one of a handful of top flight matches postponed due to the Arctic weather conditions, which put the majority of men and women's regional hockey league matches on ice.

University of Exeter's C team are due to play against Truro in a Championship fixture at Pool School at 1300 today.

Top Cornish club Truro - skippered by Alex Money - are third in the table, five points ahead of fifth placed University of Exeter C, beaten 1-0 at home by basement side Bristol University A yesterday in the division's only game to beat the big freeze.

University of Exeter E host Westbury & United Banks A in Central 1 at 1400, the same time that Stroud are due to host Cardiff Medics at Startford Park Leisure Centre, weather-permitting.

Today's West Clubs Women's Hockey League Premier 2B game between Newquay and Team Bath Buccaneers 2 has been postponed.

Yesterday Newquay - skippered by Leanne Manley - leapfrogged over Teign and up to third following a 3-2 home win over their visitors from South Devon.

Top scorer Helen Stubbs, and fellow forwards Phoebe Williams and Zoe Waitz scored for Newquay, now level on points with second placed Westberries from Bristol.
