Argyle are 20th, a point and place above the bottom four with two games of the season to go and Adams admits: “It’s a cup final for us (on Saturday) and pivotal in our season.
“If we win the match and other results go for us, we’ll be fine, but we have to go there and win first.
“Accrington have done well to get 51 points and we have to get to that 50 points mark that we have been trying to get to for a number of weeks now.
“We haven’t been able to do that so it’s a hugely important game for us.
“We have got two games now and it’s in our hands to finish in a much better position than we are in at this moment in time.
“The players hold the key.”
Adams is hoping 18-goal leading scorer Freddie Ladapo, who missed last Saturday's 3-0 home defeat by Barnsley with a calf and groin injury, will be available.
Adams said: "He's had an injection this week so we are hopeful he will be fit."
