Champions Ivybridge Town intend to finish the South West Peninsula League season on a strong note having wrapped up the East Division.They made that clear as they romped to a 7-0 home victory over Bishops Lydeard at Erme Valley on Tuesday. Tonight the Ivys host fifth-placed Okehampton Argyle (1930ko).

A NEW management team has been appointed to take charge of Ivybridge Town in the South West Peninsula League next season.Former Ivybridge players Lance Bailey and Martin Mitchell will be joined by trophy-winning Mount Gould boss Wayne Gamble following the decision of present Ivies manager Darren Stewart to stand down at the end of this term.

DARREN Stewart is set to step down as manager of South West Peninsula League side Ivybridge Town at the end of the season and has officially informed the players and club committee of his decision.Stewart explains: “The club were aware prior to the current campaign that promotion was the sole focus of this season for me and that I would be prepared and excited to lead the club into a new era in step five football but, if we did not achieve this, then my time at the club would finish.

Two goalless games don’t sound very festive or much fun – but Millbrook manager Macca Brown was relatively happy with 0-0 Western League Premier draws at home to Torpoint and away to Wellington over the holiday period.Brown recognises the value in being able to keep a clean sheet or two. After all, all successful teams are built from the back and if you don’t concede, you’ll find you don’t lose many games.
