ARGYLE REACTION Muslic takes positives from point

argyle logo2013New Plymouth Argyle head coach Miron Muslic took positives from his first Championship point, following a 1-1 home draw with Oxford United.

Muslic said: “If you can’t win it, don't lose it and it's a point.”

Argyle midfielder Rami Al Hajj’s second half header cancelled out Will Vaulks’ thumping first half opener for Oxford, whose sub Siriki Dembele was twice denied by recalled keeper Dan Grimshaw in stoppage time.

After his first game in charge Muslic admitted: “It was very emotional if you see the reception. Now I know what it feels like to play a home game and what Home Park and Argyle fans can deliver. I have nothing but respect for that so thank you very much Green Army, this will give us the boost and confidence we need. It is like having a 12th man for the challenge we have in front of us.

“I can’t wait until Saturday and now I know what to expect. We will have more time to prepare for QPR, adapt and organise ourselves.

“The challenge remains the same. Don’t forget we only had one training session before this and that was a walk through because it was one day before the game.

“I saw a team trying especially the first half, the first 25 minutes, we created chances.

“Oxford scored a beautiful goal, from 25 metres into the top of goal, it was a top finish.

“The message at half-time was ‘we are okay in the game, we are structured, organised and creating chances’. We had to continue with the defensive structure but also believe we can score, we can turn this. The game was not full of highlights.

“We scored a beautiful goal from Al Hajj. We didn’t have any more power to push for the second, we tried. If you can’t win it, don't lose it. It's a point. We take this point and we have this next opportunity on Saturday against QPR.

“If you look at it purely defensively we have only conceded one goal in the last three games. That's ok but we need to increase our offensive threat and I am very confident we can also do this.

“Our equaliser was the perfect example of how we want to play football and how we want to collect points.

“We will score many more goals like that in the coming months.”
