John Sheridan is set to become the new Plymouth Argyle manager.
South West Sports News understands the 48-year-old former Oldham Athletic and Chesterfield boss has impressed Argyle officials in interview today and is odds-on favourite for the vacant Pilgrims post.
Officials at the League Two club would - understandably - not confirm the former Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday, Oldham and Republic of Ireland midfield ace was set to be appointed as the new Plymouth boss.
However reliable SWSN sources confirm Sheridan is favourite to become the new man at the helm at Home Park.
He will initially take over until the end of the season and continue for another year should all go well.
Not Wright
Sunday update It is highly unlikely Sheridan will be joined at Plymouth by Tommy Wright, 46, as widely speculated in Devon.
Sheridan's long-time friend Wright is on a long term contract at Chesterfield, where the Scot is happily ensconced as assistant manager to Paul Cook.
Former top winger Wright was previously assistant to Sheridan at Chesterfield and Oldham.
Sheridan watched Argyle lose 4-0 at promotion-chasing Port Vale yesterday and introduced to Plymouth's players in the changing rooms following the match.
