It may be New Year's Day but some of the region's non-League football fans are experiencing a groundhog, deja vu, day.
Torrential rain caused the postponement of a dozen of today's scheduled Western League NYD fixtures, including a handful of Premier Division matches, by mid-afternoon yesterday.
Only one Western League game - at Keynsham's all-weather Crown Fields – survived Saturday's showers and the special Ks will be staging today's only First Division match again.
Melksham's home game against Bristol Manor Farm squelched past an 1130 pitch Conigre pitch inspection while a 1300 pitch inspection was palnned at the Hallen Centre ahead of tonight's home game against Bishop Sutton (1930). I will have left for Torquay United v AFC Wimbledon while that takes place.
Supporters of non-League teams – and even some Football League sides – were keeping their eyes to the skies ahead of today's first fixtures of 2013 as pitch inspection became the order of New Year's Day.
In the Southern League, Bishops Cleeve's Division One South & West game against Cinderford Town was postponed following a morning pitch inspection.
Today's selected regional fixtures - and postponements
