Plymouth should have been ahead at half time and deservedly took the lead on 50 minutes when on-loan Burnley forward Alex MacDonald latched on to a Guy Madjo pass before driving the ball underneath United keeper Daniel Bentley.
United’s on-loan Watford striker Britt Assombalonga replied five minutes later with a superb solo goal.

Some cracking Men’s Conference West matches today start with unbeaten Cheltenham against pace setters Guildford at Balcarras (1230).
Both sides got off to flying round one starts with Cheltenham beating Bath Buccs 4-0 and Guildford winning 5-2 against Havant.

Bristol Rugby, Plymouth Albion and Cornish Pirates are in RFU Championship action tonight.
The SWSN team are set to head down to see Nat Saumi’s new-look Albion play Rotherham Titans (Brickfields 1945ko) especially as two of our England Under 20 favourites, Luke Cowan-Dickie and Henry Slade are playing.

The regional hockey league season gets in full swing tomorrow with the start of the new-look men’s Davis Wood Hockey League and a full programme of matches in the West Clubs Women’s Hockey League.
Both competitions have had summer overhauls with the men’s league now boasting a Premiership top flight and Championship second tier before splitting into regional Conferences, North and South.
