Bath’s blue and golds won every quarter to make it four wins out of four ahead of today’s West derby against Severn Stars (1600).
Stars warmed up for their toughest test by claiming their first win 49-46 over Surrey Storm to soar off the foot of the table. Their player of the match was Gloucestershire's Paige Reed.
Reigning champions Manchester were stunned by an impressive onslaught from unrelenting Team Bath.
Player of the match Kim Borger - who scored 39 goals from 39 shots - said: “We've got a target on our back now. I say bring it on. We're up for the challenge, as you can see, a 25-point win in a top of the table clash. Expect exciting things from us!"
Australian ace Borger and England international Sophie Drakeford-Lewis recorded 100% shooting stats in the match as Bath built on a 12-11 first quarter advantage.
Shhoting stars Borger and Drakeford-Lewis worked wonders in the circle as Bath scored nine times without reply during the second quarter to lead 28-19 at half time.
Another 16-7 quarter victory for Team Bath meant they led 44-26 at the end of the third. In the final quarter, Betsy Creak replaced Borger at shooter, Jess Shaw replaced her sister Rachel at wing-attack and Abi Robson was introduced for tireless defender Imogen Allison but there was not let-up for Thunder as Bath added another 16 goals.
Victory lifts Bath to second, level on 12 points with leaders Loughborough Lightning, who have played five and were beaten 48-44 by Anna Stembridge's side in week one.
