Gloucester snooker ace Rob Milkins will meet reigning world champion John Higgins in tomorrow’s Haikou World Open in China.
Milkins – who is 36 next Tuesday – overcame wild card Jin Long 5-2 and now faces Higgins, who beat Jamie Cope 5-0.
Trowbridge’s Stephen Lee is also through to the last eight after beating Australia’s former world champion Neil Robertson 5-2.
Milkins rallied from 3-1 down to beat top eight player Stephen Maguire 5-3 and win through to today's last 16. Jin Long, from China, knocked out Devonian Sam Baird 5-3 on Monday.
Keynsham’s Judd Trump - who beat Andrew Higginson 5-0 to qualify for the last 16 - lost 5-4 to Mark Allen after taking a 3-0 lead.
Ulsterman Allen is a member of the On Q Promotions stable, based at the South West Snooker Academy in Gloucester.
