Devon's rising snooker star Sam Baird qualified for a ranking event venue for the first time by rallying from 3-1 down to beat world no 17 Mark Davis 5-4 in the 2012 Haikou World Open qualifiers in Sheffield.
Davis made a 137 to go 3-1 ahead but then lost four of the next five frames as 23-year-old Baird registered breaks of 63, 68, 55 and 75.
Gloucester's Rob Milkins beat Ryan Day 5-0 with a top break of 122 to book next month's trip to China.
Before the event Milkins was ranked world 38, ten places below Day.
The Haikou World Open takes place from Monday February 27 to March 4 in Hainan.
