SW RUGBY 80 minutes away from Twickenham final

official rfu logoIt's a massive semi final Saturday for rugby teams from Cornwall and Gloucestershire – now just 80 minutes away from a Twickenham final in May.

Cornwall's table-topping St Austell RFC – sitting pretty at the Western Counties West summit – travel to Brighton Blues in the RFU Intermediate Cup.

London 2 South East champions Brighton are striving for a unique treble after winning the Junior Vase (2008-09) and Senior Vase (09-10) in consecutive seasons.

The promotion-bound Cornish Saints will be hoping to give their East Sussex hosts the blues after beating another south coast side, Dorset's Wimborne, 14-8 in the quarter finals. Formed in 1963, St Austell also have a 50th anniversary incentive for completing their own special league and cup double.

The other Intermediate Cup semi final is between Midland 2 East leaders Coalville and Yorkshire 1 outfit Bridlington.

Gloucester Premier title chasers Drybrook RFC – second in the table with games in hand - visit Maidstone in the RFU Senior Vase.

In the other semi final Stourbridge Lions – who won through to the last four last season - meet Yorkshire 2 side Selby.

Gloucester 1 leaders Newent RFC visit Norfolk-based Wymondham, second with games in hand in Eastern Counties 1, in the RFU Junior Vase.

Defending Junior Vase champions Baildon, from Yorkshire, and Old Yardleians, from Warwickshire clash in the other semi.
