Firebrands face a tough last day test when they visit EHL Women’s Conference West leaders Cannock on Saturday (1400).
Fifth placed Brands head into the match buoyed by a 2-1 derby win over TeamBath Buccaneers which took their win tally for the season to seven games.
Sophie Ainge fired Brands into a 31st minute lead before Kate Newton converted 52nd minute penalty corner to make it 2-0 to the reds.
Cannock head into Saturday’s final game of the season level on points with second placed Barnes Hounslow Ealing, who host sixth placed Staines.
Brands finished fifth in the table last season with 22 points.
To date they have 22 points but one more win than last term.
