The Bristol side – whose first team are a national league premier fixture – only lost twice last season and topped the West Clubs League by four points from Team Bath Buccaneers.

WOMENS HOCKEY Gold medal ace Danson joins Clifton

Clifton Robinsons Ladies Hockey Team GB gold medal-winning Olympian Alex Danson is teaming up with top flight Bristol hockey hub club Clifton Robinsons Ladies ahead of the up-and-coming England Women’s Hockey League Premier season.

The 31-year-old Southampton-born GB and England Hockey free scoring ace switches from Reading to Clifton, skippered by Scottish international Aileen Davis.

Kelly Barrett’s navy blue and whites secured the West Clubs Women’s Hockey League Premier 1 title with a game to spare following a 4-0 home win over Bournemouth in Exeter.
