St Mellion's James Ruth topped the Altorreal Futures Open leaderboard with a scorching eight under par 64 opening round in Spain today.
Ruth, 26, rallied from an opening bogey five at the first to rack up eight birdies and take a three-shot lead on the first day of the three-day Hi5 Pro Tour event in Murcia.

Devon teenagers Harrison Greenberry and Sam Edwards are through to the 85th Boys Amateur Championship fourth round (matchplay) at Burnham & Berrow Golf Club in Somerset.
Exeter’s Greenberry, 17, beat Denmark’s Peter Baek 3&2 while Bigbury’s Edwards beat Grant Forrest of Craigielaw 5&4 this morning and now play again this afternoon for a coveted place in the quarter finals.

Exeter’s Harrison Greenberry won the 85th Boys’ Amateur Championship after beating Patrick Kelly in the final at Burnham & Berrow Golf Club in Somerset.
Greenberry - who led throughout - was three up heading to the 30th hole before requiring an up-and-down par for victory on the 37th hole after England Boys international Kelly staged a late fightback.

New South West women's champion Bethan Popel is set to compete in next week's English Girls’ championship which takes place at Ellesborough Golf Club in the Chiltern Hills from Tuesday until Thursday.
Long Ashton's Popel - who turned 16 earlier this week - became regional women's champion at Churston and will be among the region's top players at Ellesborough along with new South West girls' champion Sammie Giles.
