England golf international Jimmy Mullen will be among the favourites to win this weekend’s 72 hole West of England Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship over his home course at Royal North Devon Golf Club.

The three-day annual event alternates between Saunton and RND and historically attracts a top class amateur field to North Devon.

Truro's English amateur champion Sarah Jane-Boyd courtesy EnglandGolfCornwall amateur ace Sarah-Jane Boyd will lead England Golf’s bid for women’s glory at the European Nations Championship starting in Spain next Wednesday. 

English amateur champion Boyd, from Truro, Hertfordshire’s Gabriella Cowley, runner-up in the recent Portugese International Ladies Championship, and Surrey’s Annabel Dimmock, winner of the Jones-Doherty Cup in the USA, represent England Women at Sotogrande from March 5-8.

WOMEN'S GOLF Gloucestershire to the fore... again

Gloucestershire will again represent the region in the women's England Golf County Finals following yesterday's 5-4 win over hosts Devon at Woodbury Park.

Gloucestershire's win – their fourth of the week – meant they have built up an unassailable position at the South West Inter Counties Match Week summit as Devon, who beat Cornwall and Wiltshire on the opening two days, suffered a surprise 5-4 defeat to Dorset on Wednesday.

WOMEN'S GOLF Boyd is English amateur champion

2013 English Women's amateur champion Sarah-Jane Boyd, image copyright and courtesy leaderboard photography.com Cornwall's Sarah-Jane Boyd has won the English Women's Amateur Championship at Kings Norton, Worcestershire.

Boyd finished two strokes ahead of fellow England golf international Alex Peters with a total of two over par 290 after four rounds.

Carlyon Bay teenage ace Emily Toy has become the youngest ever Cornwall Ladies amateur golf champion.

The 15-year-old beat six times finalist and past champion Rachael Lloyd-Phillips 1 up at Tehidy Park in yesterday's 36 hole final.
