Somerset - skippered by James Ward - responded from back to back matchplay defeats at Parkstone by soaring to English County Finals qualification by a long shot.

The reds team of Craig Adams, Jonathan Grace, Tom Plumb, Tom Sloman, Tom Trowbridge and Phil White returned 14 under par 850 with morning and afternoon totals of 425.

Plumb's 12 under back to back 66s secured the Yeovil amateur ace the South West stroke play title, six shots clear of county team-mate Sloman (Taunton & Pickeridge) and Gloucestershire's Joe Harvey (The Kendleshire) on six under 138.

Gloucestershire finished runners-up in the county qualifier three under on 861 and 11 shots behind the self styled "Red Army".
Cornwall were third on 869.
