EXETER CITY McAllister set to have Field Mill day

exeter city fc crestExeter City have signed former Bristol City and Yeovil Town left back Jamie McAllister until the end of the season.

The former Scottish international defender goes straight into the City squad for today's League 2 match at Mansfield Town.

As player-coach McAllister, 36, has most recently helped steer Kerala Blasters to the runners-up position in the inaugural Indian Super League championship. Former Bristol City and England goalkeeper David James is Blasters head coach.

McAllister's first move south of the border came after helping Hearts win the Scottish Cup in 2006.

The Glasgow-born defender began a six-year stint with Bristol City in August 2006, winning League 1 promotion in his first season with the reds and coming close to making it consecutive promotions via the 2008 Championship play-off final.

McAllister was reunited with former Robins boss Gary Johnson at Yeovil Town, where he also helped the Glovers to League 1 promotion in his first season at the club - via the play-offs.

He featured 40 times for the Somerset club in last season's Championship campaign.
