City host South West rivals Yeovil Town FC at St James’ Park on Saturday and Tisdale selected the same starting XI for final pre-season fixtures against Sheffield United and at Torquay.

City attacked from the off despite a 2-1 defeat at Torquay, watched by Yeovil Town assistant manager Terry Skiverton and first team coach Darren Way, enjoying a bird's eye view from the back of Bristow's Bench.

Post-match at Plainmoor Tisdale said: “It doesn’t take Einstein to work out we have started with the same 11 and it’s looking pretty set.

“It’s about getting the right balance and we are close to it, pretty close but I don’t want anyone resting on their laurels.

“It was a really good game and I was pleased with the way we played.

“It was another step forward to the first game of the season next week.

“I am not happy to lose any game but if it provides us with reminders of what to do and what not to do then it’s no bad thing.

“There were plenty of little lessons like that for us in the game but generally I thought our pattern is becoming more developed and there was more rhythm to our game.

“Certainly we know there are one or two areas we need to tighten-up on and we have to believe if we have that many chances again we will score more goals than we did tonight.

“We are on the right lines…”

How City started versus Torquay and Sheffield United Olejnik, Noble, McAllister, Ribeiro, Harley, Oakley, Holmes, Davies, Nichols, Wheeler, Brown.
