Martin Ling, who steered Leyton Orient to promotion to League One in 2006, has been appointed as the new Torquay United manager.
The 44-year-old former Orient and Cambridge United boss - who began his playing career on the Exeter City wing - was confirmed as the new Gulls boss via United's official website at three o'clock this afternoon.

Martin Ling believes he has placed the most important piece of his Torquay United rebuilding "jigsaw" by securing the services of former Swindon Town team-mate Shaun Taylor as his new assistant manager at Plainmoor.
New Gulls boss Ling said: "It is vital to me to get the right right-hand man in and with Shaun's south west background and the fact we were team-mates at Swindon for five years and have remained in contact, I am delighted that he is going to be my assistant.

Torquay United chairman Simon Baker has confirmed the board’s decision to appoint a new first team manager as soon as, practically, possible.
Baker told southwestsportsnews this morning: “As a board we really feel that we must make an appointment by Monday.

New Torquay United boss Martin Ling is hoping for third time lucky when he next speaks to popular Gulls winger Danny Stevens.
Ling has already held talks with out-of-contract Stevens and is hopeful of completing a deal to retain the 24-year-old attacking midfielder this weekend.

Bristol Rovers have confirmed Paul Buckle as their new manager and the man they hope will help them bounce back to League One.
Buckle, 40, has a superb track record after leading Torquay United back to the Football League within two seasons of starting his first mangerial post in summer 2007.
