PIRATES BUCKLE UP WITH NEW BOSS

bristol rovers club badgeBristol Rovers have confirmed Paul Buckle as their new manager and the man they hope will help them bounce back to League One.

Buckle, 40, has a superb track record after leading Torquay United back to the Football League within two seasons of starting his first mangerial post in summer 2007.

While in his rookie management season at Plainmoor, Buckle led United to the Conference play off semi finals and the FA Trophy final at Wembley.

The following May, the Gulls were back at Wembley - winning the Conference play off final against Cambridge United 2-0.

In their first season back in League Two, United consolidated but this season won through to their second play-off final in three seasons, Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Stevenage at Old Trafford.

Gulls coach Shaun North will follow Buckle to Bristol Rovers.

United chairman Simon Baker said: "It has been a tremendous four years and I'm sad to say goodbye to two great people, who have become friends. I, along with everyone else at Plainmoor, wish them every success in their new roles."

Baker and United now begin the immediate search for Buckle's replacement and a first team manager at Plainmoor.
