LEAGUE ONE Plymouth Argyle 1 Wycombe Wanderers 1

Plymouth substitute striker Bim Pepple headed a last-minute leveller in the fifth and final minute of stoppage time as Argyle drew with Wycombe at Home Park.

Pepple rose highest and first to meet Matty Sorinola's corner with a firm header, just in front of keeper Conor Hazard, who put himself in the mix for Argyle's final attack.

Wanderers deservedly took an 11th minute lead when central defender Dan Casey headed in at the far post from skipper Jack Grimmer’s deep cross.

Wycombe started on the front foot and it took an off the line headed clearance to keep out Luke Leahy’s in swinging corner before the opening goal.

It took Argyle over 20 minutes to mount an attack of intent with substitute Pepple’s shot blocked in the 26th minute and their first corner in the 34th minute.

And it required a last-ditch block by defender Alex Mitchell and Hazard at the near post to thwart Sam Bell as the Wycombe winger crossed goalwards from the left in the 38th minute of a dour stop-start first half, highlighted by eight minutes of additional time.

Wanderers sub Caolan Boyd-Munce fired just wide from the edge of the box in the 56th minute as Argyle again failed to clear their lines effectively.

Finally with the hour approaching something to cheer for Argyle fans as Bali Mumba’s 25 yard drive on the run beat Wanderers keeper Will Norris but flew off the top of the bar in the 59th minute, signalling a brighter final spell from the greens.

Xavier Amaechi skimmed the far post with an angled, deflected 68th minute drive before Norris made a brilliant far post save to keep out Julio Pleguezuelo’s far post header from the resultant corner.

Argyle finally got their reward for an improved second half performance from Sorinola's last minute flag kick sending the Devonport End into delirium.
