The 2014 Unicorns Minor Counties Cricket Championship begins today with Western Division matches for Berkshire CCC, Cheshire CCC, Cornwall CCC, Devon CCC, Dorset CCC, Herefordshire CCC, Oxfordhsire CCC, Shrosphire CCC, Wales Minor Counties CC and Wiltshire CCC.

Wiltshire CCC start their three-day championship programme away to Oxfordshire CCC at Banbury CC at 1100.

MINOR COUNTIES Park leads Dorset at Dean Park

dorset county cricket club logoDorset County Cricket Club have selected their starting XI to play Wiltshire CCC in Sunday’s one-day Unicorns Minor Counties KO Trophy group one match at Dean Park Bournemouth.

Dorset will again be skippered by 30-year-old Poole-born wicket keeper and this season's new county captain Chris Park, head coach at Wimborne CC. Chris Esson is 12th man.

Wiltshire Cricket crestWiltshire County Cricket Club's preparations for the 2014 competitive season with a 50-overs-a-side friendly against Gloucestershire CCC 2nd XI at South Wilts CC today have been washed out.

Without a ball being bowled it's a case of rain stopped play at Salisbury... yesterday.

WILTSHIRE CRICKET Coles returns to starting XI

Wiltshire aim to bounce back from their disappointing defeat against Norfolk and make one change from that match with Bridgwater's Mike Coles - unavailable for the opener - replacing Neil Clark.

CRICKET: WILTSHIRE'S TROPHY FINAL 14

wiltshire cricket logoWiltshire CCC's final Minor Counties match of the season will be next Wednesday's MCCA Trophy final against Cumberland at the world renowned Wormsley Cricket Ground (1100) in Buckinghamshire.

Team manager Neil Shardlow has selected a Wiltshire squad of 14 however the starting XI is expected to be the same as the one which overcame Staffordshire in the semis.

HOWELL HAPPY TO BE IN BRACEWELL'S PLANS

Gloucestershire County Cricket Club crest Former Hampshire player Benny Howell has signed a two-year deal with Gloucestershire, which keeps him at the club until the end of the 2014 season.

Gloucestershire CCC director of cricket John Bracewell said: “It is great to have secured Benny on a long-term deal after what has been an extensive and successful trial period.
