MINOR MATTERS Bess hits unbeaten double century

England & Wales Cricket Board lionsJosh Bess scored an unbeaten double century as Devon amassed 426-6 against Dorset in their fifth round Minor Counties Western Division match against border rivals Dorset at Sidmouth CC yesterday.

Devon skipper Bess - brother of Test player Dom - smashed seven sixes and 19 fours on his way to 203 not out.
Alex Barrow (101) was also an opening day centurion for Devon, who compete in the minor counties T20 finals on Sunday.

Dorset are 52-1 in reply at the start of the second day's play today. 

Cornwall’s game against Oxfordshire at Banbury is evenly poised after the opening day.

Cornwall did well to bowl the hosts out for 246 taking the last six wickets for 32 runs, Andrew Libby had figures of 51-4. 

In reply Cornwall were 90-3 at stumps with Tom Rowe 31 not out.

Unbeaten leaders Berkshire are struggling on 63-6 after 19 overs away to Cheshire (254-9) at Chester. 

Umar Malik (100) and Oscar Kolk (141) scored centuries as basement side Wales scored 421 against second placed Shropshire at Oswestry.

Opener Jack Haines is on 80 not out as Wiltshire resume on 166-2 against Herefordshire (259) at South Wilts, Salisbury.

All minor counties championship matches are free to see and start at 1100, weather-permitting.
