Exeter Diamonds are through to the Premier Squash League play-off semi finals for a second successive season after finishing runners-up to defending PSL champions Surrey Health & Racquets in group B.
Diamonds - sponsored by Michael Spiers Exclusive Jewellery - visit group A champions Duffield in next Tuesday’s semi-finals while Surrey host group A runners-up Chapel Allerton.
Exeter will again seek to claim a place in their first PSL final while Duffield - champions in 1998, 2006 and 2007 - will be marking their eighth semi-final appearance in the past nine seasons.
Diamonds signed off with a 3-2 home defeat by third placed Chichester despite wins for Tim Vail and Finnish number one Olli Tuominen at two and four.
Chichester clinched victory in a nip and tuck tie when Jonathan Kemp produced an impressive four-game upset over Dutchman and Diamonds number one Laurens Jan Anjema, the world No16.
UWE/elitesquash Bristol ended the season on a high and in fourth spot following a crucial 5-0 win at St George’s Hill.
Bristol’s victory meant they edged over the Hill on ties won.
Top side Surrey won 4-1 at basement side Winchester.
