Even though Lightning fought back 13-8 in the final quarter Bath held on for a victory which keeps them three points clear of their visitors, third in the table and level on 30 points with second placed Wasps, who visit Saracens Mavericks on Monday.
Next up for Bath is derby trip to Severn Stars next Saturday followed swiftly by a Sunday home game against Mavericks (1800).
Celtic Dragons play a massive home match today as they face second from bottom Strathclyde Sirens at Cardiff Met University (1600).
Dragons are third from bottom six points clear of Sirens and looking to get back to winning ways following a 73-46 defeat at table-topping Manchester Thunder last time out.
There's no disguising the importance of a round 14 win for either side today in Cardiff.
*The Netball Superleague regular season is played over 20 rounds before the end of season play-offs.
