SW VOLLEYBALL 2013 Championships today

south west volleyball association logoPlymouth plays host to the 2013 South West Volleyball championships this weekend.

Entries to the popular annual regional volleyball festival – which will be staged at the YMCA Kitto Centre on Honicknowle Lane today and tomorrow - were due to be restricted to 26 teams.

However the tournament has expanded to accommodate 28 teams with organisers setting up a waiting list to cope with demand for places.

City of Bristol men's first team – runners-up in England Volleyball Men's Division 2 South – are in play-off action at the National Volleyball Centre, Kettering, although their second team are set to compete in Plymouth.

2012-13 South West women's volleyball champions Plymouth Marjon are among 15 women's teams competing at the Kitto Centre.

2012-13 men's regional champions Exeter Storm are one of 13 men's teams entered into tournament.

Spectators are invited to watch the competition, which starts at 0900 today. Admission is free.

Men Academy of Beach Sports Graduates, Bristol Men 1 & 2, City of Bristol 2, Cardiff Celts, Cardiff Wildcats, Devizes, Exeter Storm, Kernow Truro, Plymouth Marjon, Plymouth Old Boys, Taunton Mercenaries, Yeovil

• City of Bristol play Nottingham Rockets at 1130 in the first of today's triangular play-off matches at the NVC.

The losing team meet Men's Division 2 North runners-up Leicester VC in the next game with the winners then playing Leicester aiming to progress.
