Hooker Ross McMillan has transferred to promotion-chasing Bristol Rugby from Premiership side Northampton Saints on an 18-month deal.

The 27-year-old, who made 43 Saints appearances, joined his new Bristol team-mates at training today as the blues prepare for Sunday’s Championship trip to Penzance to play Cornish Pirates (1500).

“Ross is a tough competitor who has excellent set piece skills and a good work-rate around the field. He’s a good character and will fit in well into the environment,” Bristol's Director of Rugby Andy Robinson told bristolrugby.co.uk

“Losing Max Crumpton and Ross Johnston to long-term injuries has left us light in the hooker position, so Ross’ arrival bolsters our options.

“We’d like to thank Northampton Saints for their co-operation in agreeing an early release and allowing us to bring Ross to Bristol.”
