Bristol Ladies Rugby prop Sasha Acheson is included in England Women’s squad for next month’s Autumn International Series against France and Canada.
England play France at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday November 9 (1705) - following England men’s QBE International against Argentina – and Canada at Twickenham Stoop on Wednesday November 13 (1900).
Front row forward Acheson is the only uncapped player in an experienced 26 which includes three of her Bristol team mates - Amber Reed, Sophie Hemming and Kay Wilson - and earns high praise following her selection by England Women’s rugby head coach Gary Street.
Street said: “I am delighted to be able to welcome Sasha into the squad. She has had a great start to this season and has been one of the stand-out props in the Premiership. She has worked extremely hard to come through the RFU Divisional Programme as well, and that is great testament to her and the staff involved in developing our future talent.
“France and Canada will of course be extremely tough opponents – both are consistently in the top six in world rugby. This is therefore a great opportunity for all of us to see where we are and where we have to keep on improving ahead of the RWC in August 2014.”
Street's squad also includes Yeovil's Marlie Packer and Gloucester-born Ceri Large.
Players not considered for selection because of injuries are Danielle Waterman, Heather Fisher, Laura Keates, Alexandra Matthews, Francesca Matthews, Georgina Gulliver, Joanne McGilchrist and Bristol centre Sally Tuson. Street will announce his captain over the coming weeks.
