Bath wing Matt Banahan is relishing the opportunity to “put in a performance” in front of a packed Sandy Park when England Saxons take on Irish Wolfhounds tonight (1700).
The 25-year-old from Jersey is one of five senior members of the Saxons side – average age 24 and four months – and admits: “It’s lovely at Sandy Park, we have been training there this week, it’s got great facilities and it’s a great stadium.
“Hopefully we will get a good crowd out there and a lot of people getting behind the boys.
“There is a huge south west rugby following and we will be looking to put a performance in for them and get a win.
“There is a big following for rugby down here – with Bath, Gloucester and now Exeter in the Premiership – so hopefully we can max it out at Sandy Park, which I believe holds 10,000-plus.
“Hopefully we can fill the place and everyone will enjoy their Saturday night.”
As of this morning 7,500 tickets had sold for tonight's Sandy Park showdown - where the chart-topping Military Wives Choir will perform pre-match.
Tickets are available on the gate today from 1400 and on line up to 1200 today via the Exeter Chiefs official website.
