The 2011-12 Premiership fixtures are due to be released this morning when Rob Baxter’s Chiefs squad – including Hayes and the majority of Exeter’s summer signings – return to pre-season training.

Irishman Hayes, who is set to begin his fourth season at Sandy Park, knows the new 2011/12 season will offer just as tough a challenge to him and his team-mates, but he remains confident the club can continue to build on their season-on-season improvement.

In their first term in the Premiership, Chiefs finished eighth in the top flight with 10 wins including an opening day Sandy Park success against Gloucester.

Hayes admits: "Last year it was when the fixtures came out that it really sunk it we were in the Premiership. It will be interesting to see who we have got and when this year but I don’t think it is going to change the way we attack or approach games.

"If we don’t have many players selected for the World Cup and other teams do, it could work in our favour who we play during that period, but it won’t affect the way we prepare for the season. Last year we said we would use the Championship finals as a launch pad and we will look to become a better rugby side again this season."

The 2011-2012 Aviva Premiership rugby fixtures are set to be released at 1100 today.
