An injury-affected Plymouth Albion Ladies produced a superb team performance to defeat their obdurate visitors in a free-flowing RFUW Championship South West 2 encounter at The Brickfields.

Albion began strongly with number eight Sophie Tansley scoring the game's opening try after just two minutes.

Teddington replied with a 14th minute try by fly half Laura Quinn, converted by fullback Jo Mair, to take a 7-5 lead.

Back came the home side and two unconverted tries by centre Alex Smith in the 21st and 30th minutes saw Albion take a 15-7 advantage which was reduced to 15-12 when Quinn crossed for an unconverted scored on the stroke of half time.

Albion upped their game after the interval and a 51st minute unconverted score by veteran full back Sonia Clatworthy saw the home home side clinch a try bonus point and move into a 20-12 lead.

Teddington reduced their arrears to 20-17 thanks to another unconverted try six minutes later from second row Louise Allin-Leonard but any potential Albion nerves were eased as prop Donna Short crossed for unconverted tries in the 62nd and 70th minutes to secure a merited victory for the home side.

"Our game management, especially in the second half, plus our all-round play carried us through against game opponents who never gave up" said Albion Ladies head coach Jerry Josee.
