SW RUGBY SPOTLIGHT falls on National League 3 SW

Exmouth stretched their unbeaten run to 10 games following a 13-13 draw at National Three South West leaders London Irish Wild Geese.

The result leaves the Cockles in second place, five points behind the unbeaten table toppers.

Weston-super-Mare hang on to third spot despite a 19-5 defeat at Redingensians, where former Bridgwater & Albion boss Mike Tewkesbury is director of rugby.

Hooker Dave Burge crossed for the Seasiders only points just before half time while fly-half Guy Swadling scored all the Rams points.

Newton Abbot remain fourth, behind Weston on points difference, following a 17-7 Devon derby win over Barnstaple at Rackerhayes.

Brixham are fifth, three points behind Weston and Newton Abbot, following a 17-5 win at Malvern. Chippenham ended a run of five defeats with a 53-13 win on the 3G pitch at basement side Maidenhead, now six games without a win.

Old Patesians game at Everest Road, Cheltenham against Avonmouth Old Boys was washed out along with Oxford Harlequins game against Amersham & Chiltern.

Old Pats fixtures secretary Mark Knight said: "Despite the best efforts of both ourselves and Avonmouth to get the game on, either at their place or ours, I'm afarid the wet weather has been the winner this time."
