ENGLAND U16S RUGBY South West 43 North 26

South West beat the North 43-26 in their Under 16 Divisional Festival clash at Broadstreet RFC, near Coventry.

The North flew into a 19-5 lead midway through the first of three 20 minute periods but wings Sam Rees (QEH Bristol and Somerset) and Jack Zilch (Tiverton School and Devon) both scored two tries to transform a free-flowing contest.

RUGBY UNION South West players bid for England U16 XV

official rfu rugby logoSouth West rugby hopefuls bid for places in this season's England Under 16s squad at a development weekend at Broadstreet RFC near Coventry from tomorrow.

The highlight of the three days will be Sunday's divisional matches, when South West play the North (1100) and London & SE meet the Midlands (1300).

The programme for England Rugby’s next generation continues with a South West Divisional Academy Under 15 training camp in Bristol.

Thirty-five Under 15s will attend Clifton College today and tomorrow – the final of four events which will support the selection for next season's England’s Under 16s squad.

Plymouth College host Bodmin College in one of tomorrow’s eagerly anticipated Daily Mail RBS Schools Under 18 Cup ties across the region.

 

Last season Plymouth College's first XV won through to the national quarter-finals of rugby's prestigious schools' cup on the back of a 16-match winning streak before being knocked out 24-10 by eventual winners Whitgift School.
