The national 2013-14 England Hockey League season starts today.
There is a full programme of newly-sponsored NOW: Pensions Men's Hockey League matches.
Men's Conference West champions Cardiff & Met - captained by Jimmy Devney - begin their title defence at Cheltenham while last season's runners-up University of Exeter - now skippered by South African Olympic ace Ian Haley (pictured above) - start the term at home to Guildford.
Promoted Exeter side Isca – skippered by Simon Tremlett - play their first national league match in 13 years at University of Birmingham, who they beat 3-2 in pre-season.
Team Bath Buccaneers host Havant at Millfield School, Street.
The men's regional Davis Wood-sponsored West of England and South Wales Hockey League commences on Saturday September 28.
Clifton Ladies – the top women's team in the region – start their 2013/14 Investec Women's Hockey League Premier Division campaign at Surbiton.
The Bristol blues finished sixth in the top flight last term and reached the Women's Cup final, skippered by Fleur Horner, now at Hampstead & Westminster.
Clifton's first home Premier game is against Beeston on Saturday September 21.
Bristol's Firebrands face the toughest start – at defending champions Buckingham Ladies Hockey Club, Conference West winners for the past three seasons.
Newly promoted Exe – who regained their national league place within a season after topping the West Clubs Women's Hockey League – visit Gloucester City while last season's runners-up Isca University host Oxford Hawks.
Swansea City start at Sketty, against Barnes.
West Clubs Women's Hockey League Premier Division 1 resumes on Saturday September 21 followed by a full league programme a week later.
