Yorkshire play Staffordshire today for the 2012 English Boys county team title at Cotswold Hills Golf Club in Gloucestershire.
Both teams have – as anticipated – won their opening two matches with pre-tournament favourites Yorkshire overcoming Devon 6-3 yesterday despite resilient back-to-back wins for Ryan Pope and Jacob Tinsley.
Exeter's Pope and East Devon's Tinsley combined for a 5&3 morning foursomes win over Yorkshire’s second pairing Ben Brewster and Will Whiteoak.
Tinsley then beat Whiteoak by one hole in the singles and Pope completed the Devon duo's double by finishing 2&1 up against Brewster.
Staffordshire edged past Hampshire, Isle of Wight & Channel Islands 5-4 to set up today’s title bout with Yorkshire.
Devon and Hants, IoW & Channel Islands compete for third spot . . . and a first win.
• At lunchtime today, Devon v Hants, IoW & CI were halved 1 ½ -1 ½ following another 2&1 foursomes win for Tinsley and Pope, and a half for Dan Rosevear (Yelverton) and Matt Wells (Saunton) at one, with Billy McKenzie and Jack Singh Brar.
