Saltash United became the second Cornish side to qualify for the SW Peninsula League Cup quarter finals following a 3-1 win at Premier rivals Cullompton Rangers.
Mark Goldsworthy scored all four Helston goals as they rallied from 3-2 down to win 4-3 at Teignmouth to become the first club into the last eight.
Matt Cusack’s young Ashes followed suit thanks to two goals from striker Sam Hughes and a third from substitute James Donnellon.
Hughes got United off to a flying start in the second minute of the second half, keeping his cool to slot home from a right angle.
The striker doubled his tally by going solo in the 55th minute and was within inches of a quick fire hat-trick when he volleyed just over from 18 yards on 66.
Donnellon made it 3-0 in the 80th minute, following in after Cully keeper Nathan Whatley saved his initial shot.
Dean Stamp had appeals for a first half effort ruled out as the home side - with the wind at their backs - found 22-year-old visiting keeper Ryan Walke in inspired form.
Walke was eventually beaten by Rangers sub Bradley Riggs’ measured stoppage time finish.
