Bideford’s five-match unbeaten run ended in a 2-0 Evo-Stik League Southern Premier defeat at AFC Totton.
Richard Gillespie scored in the 24th and 73rd minutes as the Southampton side warmed up for Saturday’s FA Cup trip to crisis club Truro City.
The Stags move up to ninth in the Southern League top flight, Bideford are 19th in the 22-team top flight.
Chippenham Town beat Bashley 1-0 thanks to substitute striker Dean Griffiths 81st minute winner while Gosport Borough lost 1-0 at home to St Albans City.
Brislington remain top of the Western League following their sixth win from seven unbeaten Premier matches, a 3-2 success at Bristol Manor Farm.
Shrewton United moved off the bottom of the league with a 4-1 First Division home win over sixth placed Roman Glass St George.
In the Devon St Luke’s Cup, Willand Rovers beat Elmore 5-0 at Silver Street with goals from Dean Stamp (2) Danny Baily, Jamie Skinner and George Rogers (pen).
Stuart Dudley’s Saltash United continued their recent winning streak with an 8-1 South West Peninsula Premier win at Cullompton to move up to fourth.
