ARGYLE boss Cleverley hoping for better second half

Plymouth Argyle boss Tom Cleverley is hoping the greens second half of the season reflects their December League One form.

Argyle slipped to fourth from bottom following a 1-1 home draw against Wycombe at Home Park last night.

Speaking after the match Cleverley said: “That’s 10 points from our last five games now and more like the form we want to see in the second half of the season."

Despite his optimism, the Argyle boss was not as pleased with last night's first half performance, which mirrored the greens' first half of the  season league form.

Cleverley said: “I thought Wycombe sustained a level throughout the game that we fell below in the first half.

“And it’s my job to find out the reasons why that is and make sure that is something we don’t see again.

“In the second half we were clearly above their level and if the game had gone on for another five minutes I think we would have gone on to win the game.

“We had three first half shots, zero on target, 13 second half shots, five on target.

“There was no beating around the bush (at half-time) we know what’s needed now and we are in a position we don’t want to be.

“So it was complete honesty of what we saw in the first half and the players reacted very well.

“We let them off the hook first half, second half we put that right.

“Second half I thought there was only one team that was going on to win it.

“I thought Bim (Pepple) did great when he came on at Doncaster and he got a really important goal for the football club today, he should take confidence from that."

Argyle start the new year/second half of the season 21st on 26 points in the tightly-packed table incredibly just three points behind ninth placed Wycombe.
