Rovers bid to bounce back from a 4-1 Tuesday defeat at play-off chasing Doncaster, who soared to sixth after being beaten 4-0 at Luton last weekend.
Coughlan admits: “Obviously it’s not something you want to happen but we won’t let it define our season.
“We have been on a good run but good runs have to and then - hopefully – you go again.
“We didn’t get to high when we beat Blackpool 4-0 at the start of the month and we won’t get too low now. It's all about consistency both on and off the pitch.”
Coughlan already views the table topping Hatters as “champions elect” and wants his side - who start the weekend 15th - to upset the form book.
“It’s a great occasion and we are all looking forward to it. It’s not every week you get to test yourselves against the best but this is one of them.”
Due to "a fair few injuries" in the Rovers camp we are unable to bring you team news.
