TORQUAY UNITED start new season at home to Tranmere

Kevin Nicholson’s new-look Torquay United FC will host Tranmere Rovers at Plainmoor on the opening day of the new 2017-18 National League football season, Saturday August 5 (1500ko).
Tranmere finished runners-up in the league last term and 3-1 beaten play-off finalists by another set of Rovers, Gloucestershire’s Forest Green at Wembley.
The team Tranmere defeated over two legs in the play-off semis, Aldershot Town will provide Torquay’s first away opponents of the new term, on Tuesday August 8.
The Gulls face their longest road trip of the season on Saturday August 12 when they visit Gateshead, who are set to travel to Torquay on the Saturday before Christmas, December 23.
One of Torquay's most eagerly awaited home games will be against Leyton Orient on Saturday November 25. The Os appointed hugely popular former Gulls boss Martin Ling as director of football following relegation from the Football League for the first time in 112 years.
United visit Eastleigh on Boxing Day Tuesday December 26 and Boreham Wood on Saturday December 30 before returning to Plainmoor to kick off the new year at home to Eastleigh on Monday January 1.
United end the regular season at home to Ebbsfleet United on Saturday April 28.
