SWPL EAST Cullompton Rangers 1 Ivybridge Town 4

Leading scorer Luke Forward hit a first half hat-trick as Ivybridge Town continued their unbeaten start to the South West Peninsula League season.

Forward opened the scoring in the 13th minute and struck again six minutes later before adding a third deep into stoppage time at the end of the first half to bring his total to ten goals in eight matches.

Although Cullompton reduced their arrears during the second half, Bailey Mabin wrapped up victory for Ivybridge when he scored after coming off the substitutes’ bench for his fourth goal in the last five matches.

Ivybridge are four points clear at the top of the East Division with seven wins and a draw from their opening eight fixtures while Bridport are second with a 100 per cent record from six matches and will make up one of their matches in hand with a visit to Cullompton on Wednesday evening.

Next up for Ivybridge will be a trip to Torridgeside on Saturday. Then comes a run of three home fixtures with league matches against Teignmouth on Saturday September 23 and Honiton the following Saturday in addition to an attractive midweek cup clash against Torquay United in the Devon St Luke’s Bowl first round on Tuesday September 26.
