SWPL EAST Elmore AFC 1 Ivybridge Town 1

SWPL logoA SINGLE South West Peninsula League point at bottom-of-the-table Elmore proved to be the only return from a frustrating afternoon for Ivybridge Town.

Ivies manager Darren Stewart admitted it was a disappointing result adding: “The best thing we can say is that we did not lose.”

Ivybridge went into the game looking for an early goal but it was Elmore, who struck first, taking the lead after only 10 minutes when the Ivybridge defence failed to deal with a corner.

It was not until they started throwing players forward that Ivybridge were rewarded with an equaliser from Lewis Dickson in the 70th minute.

That was as good as it got for Ivybridge, however, as they were unable to produce a winner.

Stewart said: “We are now at the business end of the season and we need to be picking up three points at places like Elmore. Although we equalised, we could not find the necessary quality for a winner.

“After this result we do not have much leeway in terms of dropping points in our remaining games.”

Next up for Ivybridge will be a home match against second placed Crediton on Saturday (Feb 18). Ivybridge are currently in third position, six points adrift of Crediton with three games in hand.

Stewart says: “We have some tough games coming up and we have got to look at getting as many points as we can from those matches. Our performance on Saturday has to be better than it was at Elmore. We need to go in with a positive attitude after that result.”
