Sehmi broke a finger in the defeat by Herefordshire in Cheshire’s last Championship match three weeks ago and he missed the Showcase 50-overs match against Warwickshire two week ago.
He is now fit enough to lead Cheshire and to bat against Berkshire but not to keep wicket so Will Evans will deputise behind the stumps.
Cheshire, beaten in both of their three-day matches this season, have made three changes to Sunday’s side with Wallasey batter Jamie Crawley and Clifton left-arm seamer Sam Grant both called up for their first appearances of the season.
Chester Boughton Hall batter Alex Money, who played for MCC against the National Counties XI on Tuesday, will play in his first Championship match of the season.
Berkshire have recalled batter Charlie Dunnett and included off-spinner Adam Searle in their 12-man squad for a possible Championship debut.
Searle made his county debut in last Sunday’s National Counties Trophy semi-final victory over Dorset.
Oxfordshire, whose hopes of retaining their title suffered a setback with a heavy defeat by Berkshire, take on Dorset at Banbury.
Sussex left-hander batter Tom Hinley is set to make his Oxfordshire debut and Gloucestershire all-rounder Luke Charlesworth his first Championship appearance for his native county.
Batters Freddie Smith and Marcus Campopiano and slow left-armer Ollie Clarke return to the squad and Ollie Currill has recovered from the injury that ruled him out of last weekend’s National Counties Trophy semi-final defeat by Cumbria.
All-rounder Ben Chaffey, a former captain of their Under-18s team, will make his senior debut for Dorset with Ollie Breckon and Connor Smith both making their Championship debuts.
In Western Division Two, just 24 points separate leaders Wales NC – who sit out this round - from bottom-placed Cornwall.
Shropshire are 16 points behind Wales but as Devon’s visit to Bridgnorth this weekend is their last match of the season, they are clear outsiders for promotion.
Oxford University batter George Hargrave will make his first Championship appearance of the season with Sam Whitney, Shropshire’s three-day captain, and slow left-armer Sam Baugh returning to county action on their home club ground.
Quatt all-rounder Ryan Wheldon also returns in the other change to the side that was beaten by one wicket by Cornwall in a thriller at St Austell.
Wiltshire – who are level on points with Devon – host Cornwall at the South Wilts club in Salisbury where Redruth batter Kark Leathley replaces Joe Phillips in the visitors’ side.
