Wiltshire routed Cornwall by an innings inside two days at Corsham.
Despite beating Oxfordshire in their opening Minor Counties Championship match, Cornwall were shot out for 87 in their second innings and beaten by an innings and 74 runs.
Once again it was former Hampshire and Gloucestershire all-rounder Jake Lintott who did the damage as he followed up his five wickets in the first innings with five for 26 to finish with career-best match figures of ten for 79.
Jack Paull, who top scored with 40 in Cornwall’s first innings, was the only batsman to reach 20 in the second innings.
Wiltshire rattled to 345 all out inside 78 overs with Lintott and Tahir Afridi weighing in with half centuries.
Wickets also continued to tumble at Eastnor where Devon lost their final first innings wicket without adding to their overnight 89 for nine.
Herefordshire turned a first innings lead of 104 into one of 341 with useful contributions down the order, headed by captain Matt Pardoe’s 44. Off-spinner Jamie Stephens took seven for 80 to check Herefordshire’s progress.
Devon fought back in their second innings with captain and former Somerset batsman Alex Barrow making 75 not out as they reduced their victory target by 147 but lost Matt Thompson to Pardoe just before the close.
Defending champions Berkshire fought back after an indifferent first day against Wales at the Falkland club in Newbury where former Middlesex slow left-armer Chris Peploe took six for 66 in his first championship match of the season and opener Archie Carter made his maiden century.
Wales lost their last seven wickets for 52, a collapse that started when Umer Malik fell to Peploe for 61 which gave Berkshire a first innings lead of nine.
Carter and fellow teenager Michael Williams then put on 97 for the first wicket with Williams making 57 on his championship debut and Carter, who has played Second XI cricket for Middlesex, reaching three figures from 208 balls.
Shropshire’s new three-day captain Joe Carrasco missed out on a century by one run against Oxfordshire at Banbury.
Carrasco was caught behind off Gareth Andrew, the former Somerset, Worcestershire and Hampshire all-rounder, who took four for 47.
Without Carrasco Shropshire would have been in a sorry state as their next highest score was Ryan Lockley with 18 and they trailed by 148 on first innings.
A half century from acting-captain Harry Smith stretched Oxforshire’s lead to 338 with four wickets remaining.
Dorset seamer Brad Currie took his maiden five wicket haul to help dismiss Cheshire for 125 at Bournemouth.
Dorset built on a first innings lead of 161 with North Perrott’s Alex Eckland following up his maiden century in the first innings with 73 and Lymington’s Harry Fisher making his second half century of the match.
Cheshire, who were set an improbable 429 to win, slipped to 24 for two by the close.
