Cornwall dramatically beat Wiltshire by 123 runs at Falmouth CC yesterday to move to joint top of the Minor Counties Championship Western Division table.
Wiltshire collapsed to 68 all out in the morning as they chased Cornwall’s 199 first innings total.
Cornwall then made 93-8 declared to set the visitors 225 to win in a minimum of 55 overs.
Wiltshire were 54-3 at tea but Cornwall skipper Tom Sharp, with five wickets, and Sam Hockin, four, secured an unlikely victory with almost an hour to spare.
Cornwall now top the Western Division table after three rounds on 36 points with Shropshire.
Devon and Dorset are tied third on 26 points following the abandonment of their respective games against Herefordshire, at Sidmouth CC, and at Cheshire, Alderley Edge.
Oxfordshire’s match against Wales Minor Counties was also abandoned – like Dorset’s match - without a ball being bowled.
Herefordshire scored 142-8 on the second day at Sidmouth.
At Falmouth CC Cornwall 199 (Henry Langford 7-46) & 93-8 dec (Mukesh Bhatt 5-48), Wiltshire 68 (Rob Harrison 3-20, Andrew Libby 3-1) & 101 (Tom Sharp 5-25, Sam Hockin 4-50).
• Tonight’s rearranged Hawkey Cup Final between Callington CC and Gorran CC at St Austell CC has been postponed. A new date of next Tuesday has been mooted.
• The delayed Vinter Cup semi-final between Beacon CC and Redruth CC was still set to go-ahead at Troon CC (Treslothan Road, 1800).
