CORNWALL CRICKET: ST JUST THROUGH TO T20 FINALS

St Just won through to the Barbados Cockspur Club T20 National Finals Day in the most dramatic fashion in Surrey yesterday.

The regional final against Valley End took five hours to complete due to rain delays. The Surrey side made 148 for 7 in their 20 overs.

In reply Neil Curnow made 66 as he and David Roberts put on over a hundred in 12 overs. Five wickets fell cheaply however to leave 12 required off two overs. With six still needed off three balls Nick George sensationally hit a massive six to win the game. Roberts was 52 not out.

St Just will now play in the televised finals day at Chelmsford on Monday September 19. Chester-le-Street and Ealing also won through yesterday with Kendal or Hyde making up the quartet.

Back in the County the most gripping climax ever to a Jolly’s Drinks ECB Cornwall Premier League season continues today.

After Saturday’s games, incredibly, only six points cover the top five teams with three games to play.

The match of the day today sees Werrington host Callington.

Truro, who moved from fourth to top on Saturday, visit Falmouth.

Paul, who beat Werrington off the last ball, are at bottom club Newquay.

St Just’s game at home to St Austell has been put back to next Sunday due to their national game yesterday.

Today’s other Premier game sees Grampound Road host Troon.

In County Division One a win for unbeaten leaders Camborne over neighbours Beacon will see them clinch the title.

Elsewhere Penzance play Ludgvan, Redruth meet Hayle, Truro seconds play Wadebridge, Roche take on Gorran and Launceston host Luckett.
